Is my AI high-risk?

Most AI products are not high-risk. Some are, and some can step out under Article 6(3) if they document why. Answer up to four steps and see which side of the line your system is likely on, with the reasoning, the deadline and what to do next.

Step 1 of 4

Is it an AI system?

Under Article 3(1), an AI system is machine-based, works with some autonomy and infers from its input how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations or decisions. Software that only runs rules people wrote is usually not one.

Which of these areas is your AI system used in?

The eight areas of Annex III. Pick the one closest to what the system is meant for.

Frequently asked questions

Is my chatbot high-risk?

Not because it is a chatbot. The use decides it: a support chatbot is usually not high-risk, while one that screens job applicants or assesses creditworthiness can be, because those uses are in Annex III. Every chatbot still has the Article 50 notice duty, in force since 2 August 2026.

What is the Article 6(3) exemption?

A way out of high-risk for an Annex III system that does not materially influence decisions and only performs a narrow procedural task, improves a previously completed human activity, detects decision patterns without replacing human assessment, or performs a preparatory task. It never applies if the system profiles people.

If the exemption applies, do I still have to do anything?

Yes. Under Article 6(4) you document the assessment before you place the system on the market or put it into service, and under Article 49(2) you register it in the EU database. Authorities can ask to see the document.

When do the high-risk obligations apply?

After the June 2026 Omnibus: 2 December 2027 for Annex III systems and 2 August 2028 for AI in products covered by Annex I.

Self-assessment, not legal advice. This page and the Reglynn report are a structured self-assessment based on the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689, as amended by the June 2026 Omnibus). They indicate where you likely stand and what to verify with a qualified advisor. Reglynn is not a notified body and issues no certification.

How this was made. Reglynn reports are generated by an AI system built on Anthropic's Claude and delivered automatically. Reglynn is a Limited Risk AI system under Article 50; we disclose AI involvement wherever it occurs, including in our chat assistant. Our own self-assessment.
